Amole Canyon Snowshoe Tour

We invite you to enjoy the outdoors of northern New Mexico, strap on some lightweight aluminum snowshoes’and hit the scenic trails of the Taos backcountry with your experienced guide. Spend the day floating on snow in the Ponderosa Pine forest of Amole Canyon allowing your guide to do all the planning, handling of equipment logistics, transportation and providing you a pack’lunch all included in your tour. Enjoy the intimate and personal experience in a small group setting. Meet in Taos in the lobby at El Monte Sagrado Resort at 10am and return at 2pm.

What To Expect

After a snowshoe strapping demonstration, pole fitting, and short safety talk from your guide, your adventure begins! Enjoy two to four miles of backcountry trail offering great views of Picuris Peak, while meandering through a quiet blanketed wilderness mix of old growth pine and mountain meadows.

What To Bring Your trailhead is located within Carson National Forest at 8250 feet. We recommend bringing: – Snow boots or comfortable waterproof boots – Layered thermal clothing – Warm gloves and hat – Sunglasses or snow goggles – Thermal Mug for Hot Beverage (optional) – Two water bottles or Camel-pack (water to fill bottles provided) – Backpack to stow your belongings
